My name is Mili. On August 2010, I was diagnosed with a rare type of high grade metastatic ovarian cancer. I was just turning thirty and the news was initially very shocking. But very soon Jesus gave me the belief that if I held His hands & trust in Him, He will bring me out of this dark tunnel. The verse
from the bible ' I have plans for you, plans for your welfare and not your disaster' (Jeremiah 29:11) tremendously strengthened me.
I also believed that I was a chosen child of God and realised that He was fulfilling my desire to be His instrument. My six months treatment included surgical removal of my right ovary and fallopian tube and six cycles of chemotherapy. At the end of my chemo, the doctors advised me to have my remaining ovary and uterus removed. But during my chemo itself I believed that Jesus had already healed me and that I will not need any further treatment. Although the odds were against us, I strongly believed that Jesus would grant our desire to have more children.
We decided to attend a retreat in Sehion Retreat Centre, Kerala after I finished my chemotherapy. During the final day adoration, the priest announced that a person with a hereditary type of cancer had been healed and I knew it was me. We also got a message during the one day convention led by Rev Fr Xavier Khan Vattayil that no surgery was required. This helped to convince my husband, who is a medical consultant. On our return to UK, I beived the result of my genetic test which confirmed that my cancer was of a hereditary type. Our three year old daughter, Rachel, longed for a little brother or sister, and she started to pray every day.
But at my follow up visits, blood tests showed that I had no ovarian function and had attained premature menopause and had little chance of conceiving again. But I claimed Mark 10:27, which says, Jesus gazed at them and said, "By human resources it is impossible, but not for God: because for God everything is
possible". Fr Soji and many others prayed for me. Three months later, in June 2012 on returning from the pentecostal retreat by the Sehion UK team, I discovered that I was seven weeks pregnant. All my doctors were amazed by the news, as they had told me that I was very unlikely to have another child.
In December 2012 , God blessed us with Sarah, a perfectly healthy baby girl. As the bible says in John 11:40, 'If you believe you will see the glory of God'.
